LB Beauty and Training Academy offers a “Step Cosmetology Training Program” designed to train and license learners in all phases of cosmetology while working in a professional salon earning income (on the job training-OJT). The 1500-hour cosmetology program is based on the units of instruction mandated by the State of Virginia Board of Cosmetology. The OJT work program is under the direction of a master educator. The dual “learn/work” program is for persons desirous of learning to be professionals in the field. The objective of the program is to demonstrate the theoretical knowledge by competency in the work place. Theory includes professional development; salon ecology and business; and hair, nail, skin and wax services. It is because of the program length that we offer a step achievement program wherein a separate license in the respective areas can be obtained throughout the program. Comprehensive knowledge and licensure in these areas will help to expand service area and income.
